Dr. Angela R. Ausbrooks, LMSW, joined the faculty in 2006 and holds degrees from the University of North Texas (B.A.) and University of Texas at Austin (MSSW, PhD). Dr. Ausbrooks teaches courses at the BSW and MSW level in the areas of research, social work practice, human development, and policy. Dr. Ausbrooks’ research interests include resilience, trauma, child welfare, juvenile criminal justice issues, and multiculturalism. She has extensive knowledge of the child welfare system, and has conducted numerous presentations on trauma, resilience, human development, and multicultural awareness. Dr. Ausbrooks also provided leadership for an interdisciplinary working group tasked with examining student mental health resources at Texas State University and making recommendations to address identified gaps in University services. Dr. Ausbrooks continues to collaborate with faculty at Texas State and professionals within the central Texas communities on research and programming projects related to child welfare, resilience, trauma, mental health of children and youth in public school systems, and adult learners in higher education.
